Hi folks! Just in case you still don’t know, this year’s Chinese New Year will start on February 9, 2005. Malapit na!

On the first day of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rooster will officially begin. Contrary to popular belief, today (January 30, 2005) still belongs to the Year of the Monkey.
Ha! I finally succeeded in solving the Petals Around The Rose puzzle after more than 50 throws of dice! My friend and officemate Brian introduced it to me, and the first time I attempted to solve it, I thought it’s terribly difficult! But after I seriously paid attention to the name of the game, I got the principle and I was able to solve it! The puzzle is very simple after all!
I’m sure na kayang-kaya nyo rin itong i-solve. Just go to this site and try to roll five dice online. Then guess the correct numeric answer for that roll. Please remember that the name of the game is Petals Around The Rose, and the name is the key to the solution!
If you did solve the puzzle, you can be a member of the Fraternity of The Petals Around The Rose! I’ve just enlisted myself to that group!
Mystified by Jodi’s name, Jenna asked Charlie: “Sino ba si Jodi?
Iniwan niya si Jenna as a result.
But Jenna answered, “Sorry, di ako yun”. Cholo persisted, “Sigurado ako. Ako si Cholo. Naaalala mo?” Then niyakap ni Cholo si Jenna. But Jenna simply replied, “Di ako si Jodi”.
Meanwhile, Charlie managed to get in the bus, leaving Jenna for good.
But Cholo never gave up and still pursued Jenna in the bus. Matyaga siyang nagtatatakbo habang hinahabol niya ang bus. Meanwhile, Jenna simply watched Cholo outside, running and chasing the bus.
Thankfully, the bus stopped momentarily to unload some passengers. Cholo took this opportunity and rode in the bus.
Cholo persistently tried to get Jenna to remember him. He revealed to her his picture of them at the beach when they were still kids.
May sumpaan tayo, di mo ako iiwan!”. But Jenna shouted, “Rapist! Tulong!”. But Cholo is still shouting her name: “Jodi!”
So as the new chairman of Global company, Cholo decided to do a painting contest where anyone can join, and the winner will paint the wall near the carousel.
In their conversation. In their conversations, it was revealed that all this time, Jenna thought that Charlie (Tristan) was his brother….
And so on…
Here’s the lyrics for the Tagalog opening theme song of the Korean drama series Stairway To Heaven.
=======
Pag-Ibig Ko’y Pansinin
By Carmela “Faith” Cuneta
Stairway To Heaven Tagalog opening theme song
Words by: Romer N. Timbreza
Music and Arrangement by: Elmer Blancaflor
(Stanza 1)
Narito ang pag-ibig ko,
Ibibigay nang buong-buo.
Nangangarap nang mag-isa,
Umaasa na makapiling ka.
(Stanza 2)
Narito ang buhay ko,
Nakalaan para sa iyo.
Naghihintay ng pag-asa
Na sana ay iyong madama.
(Chorus)
Langit ka, (at) lupa ako.
Hanggang tanaw na lang ba tayo?
Mahal kita, mahal mo ba ako?
Hanggang pangarap na lang ba ito?
Kaya kong gawin ngunit di kayang sabihin…
Ang pag-ibig ko sana’y mapansin.
(Stanza 3)
Narito ang awit ko,
Ang himig nitong puso.
Naglalarawan ng pagsinta,
Nagbibigay ng sigla’t saya.
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
Ang pagtingin mo’t pagmamahal
Damdaming iingatan nang kay tagal.
(Repeat Chorus)

As usual, I will put guitar chords on this one if I have the time.
Hello! Now I have the lyrics of the sad piano theme song of Stairway To Heaven, entitled Bogoshipda and sung by Kim Bum Soo.
But before I proceed, I want to tell you first that I will post only the pronunciation of the words in the song, not their standard “spelling” (i.e., their romanization) themselves. This way, you don’t have to decipher their pronunciation and thus you can sing them better. (The pronunciation is not that apparent in the standard romanization of Korean words.)
Pronunciation hints: You use Tagalog pronunciation for all the letters, except:
uh — Sounds like “ou” in the English word “young”.
u — Also sounds like “ou” in the English word “young”.
oo — Sounds like “u” in the word “put”.
eu — Japanese “u”: Pronounce the Tagalog vowel “u” without rounding your lips. Sounds nearly like “ew” in the word “new”.
And now for the song itself:

Coincidence is playing the fate of Cholo and Jodi’s meeting together in this episode. Many times, muntik na silang magkitang dalawa. Especially when both Charlie (Tristan) and Jenna (Jodi) went to the beach and found a familiar old house where Jodi used to live. While Jenna is watching Charlie sketch the house on his canvas, Cholo is playing the piano inside the house. She saw someone playing the piano but didn’t realize it’s Cholo. Meanwhile, Cholo is so busy playing the piano he didn’t even bother to look at the window and discover Jodi watching him there. Sayang…

In another instance, Cholo’s car overtook Charlie and Jodi’s van on the road. Moments later, lumabas din si Cholo sa car niya para mag-unat-unat, but he didn’t realize that he is now already visible to Jenna at the van’s front seat.
After a meeting in his company, Cholo was being questioned by Eunice about his loyalty and love to her. Kasi, alam ni Eunice na si Jodi pa rin ang iniisip ni Cholo after all this time. Cholo said to Eunice that he loves her (Eunice).
Sa bahay nina Charlie, it was revealed that Jenna thought that she was saved by Charlie’s father from her burning house, which is not true. (Binangga siya ng kotse ni Eunice, remember?) And that Charlie changed his view of Jenna a bit. So he went to Jenna’s bed touched her cheek and head, and then he covered her properly with her blanket.
Every time the Stairway To Heaven teaser is shown on TV, you always hear this familiar little piano tune. Now this sad tune is revealed much more during the episode where Cholo is sadly reminiscing his childhood moments with Jodi in the beach.
The song is entitled Bogoshipda (or Bo Go Ship Da), a song performed by Kim Bum Soo. It’s one of my personal favorites. I think the song captured the overall emotion of the show.
I’ll share with you the MP3 file of this song, together with Cheongukui Ki-eok (or Chun Gook Eh Gi Uk, “Heaven’s Memory”) by Jang Jung Woo and Ave Maria by Rebecca Luker.
Click the file links (the title of the songs) below. Enjoy!

Later on, I will share their lyrics and construct their guitar chords if I have the time.

Jodi’s unfortunate transformation began in this episode where she got intentionally hit by Eunice’s car. Eunice attempted to confuse Cholo’s family and everyone else by creating a situation for mistaking Jodi’s identity. Cholo and everyone else mourned Jodi’s “death”, while they didn’t know that Eunice kept Jodi in her former house. Moments later, Jodi woke up but her memory is at a loss. Tristan is going to take advantage of her amnesia.
Five years later, Jodi transformed into Jenna. But Tristan is still with Jenna.

He was even apparently a playboy who’s more interested in other girls than in his own girlfriend. But Eunice knows all about this because she knows that Cholo is still thinking of Jodi after all those years.
In Seoul, Cholo drove his way toward the beach, while reminiscing his moment with Jodi when they were still kids at the beach. At this moment, you will hear the sad theme song Bogoshipda, sung by Kim Bum Soo, playing in the background. At the beach, wala nang magawang iba si Cholo kundi isigaw ang pangalan ni Jodi, as if hinahanap-hanap niya siya sa kawalan…

If you have any questions about me or my blog, you can post them in the Comments section. You may also ask questions about anything under the sun (like “Why is zero factorial equal to one?”), and I will attempt to answer them. All comments are moderated.
Q: Why is your blog’s title “Faces of the Moon”? Shouldn’t it even be “Phases of the Moon”?
A: For your info, the moon has two faces (no, not the “phases”): the brighter face which always faces toward the Earth, which you can fully see every full moon; and the darker face which always faces away from the Earth, the one you will never see even during full moon, but which you may see in astronomical photos. In a way, it’s also like my personality; there’s the one you always know, and there’s the other one you don’t know.
Wala lang!
She’s the one who played the role of Eunice in GMA-7’s Koreanovela show Stairway To Heaven. Although I don’t like Eunice, I like Kim Tae Hee very much!
Did you know that Kim Tae Hee is Lee Wan’s elder sister in real life? Lee Wan is the guy who played the role of young Tristan. See this article in the donga.com site.

I like her very much!

This episode, Tristan got very sad and desperate, because Jodi is going to leave for America in three days and will continue to study abroad, thanks to Cholo (who’s already in the U.S.) who managed her papers beforehand.

Every time you see the GMA-7 Korean drama Stairway To Heaven resuming its show after the commercial break, you always hear that familiar voice singing “Langit ka…”.

“Teka, di ba si Nina yun?”
Nope!
“Pero kahawig siya ni Nina, di ba?”
Yup.
“Ah!
Yup.
“Yung Di Ko Na Kaya ang title, di ba?”
Yup.
“Eh di si Carmela Cuneta!!”
Ummm…Yup and nope.
You see, Carmela Cuneta is now known as Faith. She also had her self-titled album. And the “Langit ka…” song that’s used in Stairway To Heaven is entitled Pag-ibig Ko’y Pansinin.
Did you know that Carmela once competed with Kyla (a.k.a. Melanie Calumpad) in the 1997 Metropop Star Search? Carmela won first runner-up, while Kyla won second. See this GlobalPinoy article.
Since early January this year, nakikita nyo na ang girl na ito na palakad-lakad sa sidewalk na namimigay ng Coke sa mga nakakasalubong niya. Parang hindi siya nauubusan ng Coke no? Wala naman siyang dalang bag!
(Some visitors’ comments: May dala siyang bag! Kita pa nga yung strap running on her shoulders eh! My oversight.
)

Her name is Nikka “Nikki” Gil, the latest Coke endorser.
Stay tuned!

See also the San Miguel Corporation site.
Si Nikka rin yata yung nasa Cream Silk “The Bus” commercial featuring Boy Abunda.
If you’re watching Stairway To Heaven, then perhaps you already know Choi Ji Woo and Kwon Sang Woo. But today, I will introduce to you the younger casts of the Korean show. Hindi pa ito mine-mention ng GMA-7!
Let’s start!
Park Shin Hye as the young Jodi:
Park Ji Mi as the young Eunice:

I’m a guy, but yep, I nevertheless watch the Korean drama series Stairway To Heaven, shown by GMA-7 right after Starstruck. Korny ba ‘ko? Nagagandahan ako sa show eh.
Nasimulan ko ang Stairway To Heaven right from Day 1. It’s been a few days now.
Then at Jodi and Tristan’s house, at the terrace on the second floor, pilit niyakap-yakap ni Tristan si Jodi kahit ayaw ni Jodie. Nataranta si Tristan kaya napatalon siya from the terrace pababa ng bahay! Ouch! (Pero ba’t kaya hindi siya napilay??
)
That’s right!
This is my very first blog.
I’m assuming that the people who will be reading my blog are mostly from the Philippines. I will use mixed English and Tagalog sentences in my posts.
With reference to the name of my blog, did you know that the moon has two faces (not “phases”)? They are: the brighter face which always faces toward the earth, the one you always see during full moon; and the darker face which always faces away from the earth, the one you never ever see even during full moon.
Wala lang.
